Eligibility for care 

Health Services provides services to enrolled students.

  • Fall Semesters: The last day of service is the Friday before winter break.
  • Spring Semesters: The last day of service is Commencement day. After Commencement, graduated students are no longer eligible for services.
  • Summer: Services are available only to students who are:
  • Enrolled in summer classes
  • Working on-campus
  • Conducting research
  • Living on-campus. A student living in the Saratoga area is not eligible for services unless one of the previously mentioned conditions is met.
Medical Visits

To ensure better service and a safe environment, please schedule an appointment in advance rather than walk-in. Health Services strives to accommodate same-day or next-day appointments.

Health Services offers acute and routine care.

Examples of acute/illness/injury visits include:

  • Flu-like symptoms (fever, aches)
  • Upper respiratory symptoms (sore throat, cough)
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Care for chronic illnesses (in collaboration with home and/or specialty providers)
  • Routine follow-up for eating disorders (including lab work)
  • Sexual and reproductive health care
  • Referrals to specialists

Examples of routine visits include:

  • Physical exams (for internships, travel abroad, or work)
  • Preventative health counseling
  • Starting birth control
  • Routine STI testing
  • Immunizations
  • Blood tests and lab work (with a provider’s order)
  • Tuberculosis screening (PPD)
  • Smoking/vaping support and counseling, medication to help quit

Fees

No charge for:

  • Visits
  • Emergency contraception (Plan-B, ella)
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Most over-the-counter medications
  • Basic wound care supplies (in the setting of a visit)

Minimal fees typically apply for:

  • Prescription medications
  • Some over-the-counter medications (e.g., Mucinex)
  • Immunizations
  • Braces (ankle, knee, wrist, etc.)
  • Rapid testing in office (strep, flu)

Payment:

All fees will be discussed with the patient before being applied. Fees can be paid by:

  • Cash
  • Skid Card
  • Active student account (billed along with tuition)

Insurance:

Health Services does not bill health insurance companies. Students can keep receipts and submit them to their insurance or medical spending accounts directly. Students (or their insurers) are responsible for all bills related to care outside Health Services, including:

  • Emergency room or urgent care visits
  • Outside laboratory tests and x-rays
  • Visits to outside providers or prescriptions
