Laboratory Testing at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health Services
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health Services provides both in-house testing and send-out laboratory testing to meet various healthcare needs. Here's a breakdown of the available services:
In-House Laboratory Testing | Send-Out Laboratory Testing | Orders From Outside Providers
In-House Laboratory Testing:
Health Services offers the following rapid tests on-site:
- Rapid Mononucleosis finger stick
- Rapid Strep throat
- Rapid flu
- Rapid COVID-19 antigen testing
- Rapid HIV fingerstick (3rd Generation)
- Urine testing (including urine pregnancy testing)
Fees: Most of these tests have a fee of $5-$10.
Send-Out Laboratory Testing:
Some tests require specialized processing that is done outside of Health Services. These tests include:
- Blood tests
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing
- Pap smears
- Other specimens
Process:
- Tests are collected at Health Services and sent to LabCorp for processing.
- Some tests may require specific collection protocols, so in those cases, students will be directed to an appropriate external laboratory.
- Payment options: Students can use health insurance or pay out-of-pocket for tests sent to an external lab. These payment options will be discussed thoroughly with students before sending tests to the lab.
Orders from Outside Providers:
If you are receiving care from an outside provider who has requested blood tests, you can have most tests drawn at Health Services. Here’s how it works:
- Request a lab order from your outside provider, including the provider's signature.
- Fax the order to 518-580-5556.
- Health Services will review the order to ensure there are no special handling requirements for the tests.
- After review, we’ll contact you to schedule an appointment or suggest alternative locations for the test.
- Lab processing: Tests will be sent to LabCorp for analysis.
- Insurance verification: It is the student's responsibility to confirm if their insurance will cover the lab work at LabCorp.
- Results: Lab results will be sent directly to the ordering provider, not to Health Services.
If you need assistance with scheduling or have questions about your insurance coverage for lab work, don’t hesitate to reach out to Health Services! We’re happy to help guide you through the process.
