A panel of experts from the Climate Reality Project and regional colleges explores the intersection of two of the major challenges to world peace in the 21st century.  Part of Saratoga Peace Week.

Edward Burtynsky鈥檚 new film, Anthropocene, will be shown on campus in coordination with the UN Climate Action Summit.

Ken Ilgunas is an author and journalist whose recent book, Trespassing Across America, details his hike along the Keystone XL Pipeline and stories he gathered from affected landowners.

Tuesday, Oct. 15, 6:30 p.m. 鈥� ESS Keynote Speaker Mace Vaughan: 鈥淏ringing Back the Pollinators: How Farmers, Gardeners, Cities, and Schools Can Join the Global Effort to Save Biodiversity鈥�

Mace Vaughan is the Co-Director of the Pollinator Program for the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation.  He will discuss his work on the federal Farm Bill, as a case study for how federal policy can help set up possible solutions to conservation issues.  He will also talk about national programs that are being implemented on a local level to protect pollinators.

Monday, Oct. 21, Todd Miller 鈥淏order Patrol Nation鈥�

Border scholar and author Todd Miller will discuss the US southern border with Mexico and its consequences on climate change, migration, and homeland security.

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 5 p.m. 鈥� ESS Advising Meeting

In advance of registration for spring courses, the ESS Program will hold a meeting to introduce students to the ESS curriculum and answer questions about major and minor requirements and upcoming courses. ESS faculty will give an overview of the program, and then students will break into small groups to discuss our 2 majors:  Environmental Studies and Environmental Science.
