Student Summer Housing Overview

We are thrilled you are planning on joining us on campus this summer!  Whether you are taking a class, doing research or working to support our campus, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Saratoga Springs are the places to be for an unforgettable summer!

How to Apply

1. Review Student Summer Housing Dates.
2. Submit an Once signed into OKTA click the "StarRez Portal" tile.  Choose the Summer Application.  The application will be active on March 3, 2025.
3. Please contact us immediately to request any changes to be made to your housing dates after the timeframe has passed to edit your application. 

Summer Student Housing is available to

• Students enrolled in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Summer Sessions Classes for credit
• Students participating in Summer Collaborative Research
• Students enrolled in a ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø sponsored internship or ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Independent Study for credit
• Student employees working on campus (undergraduates only)
• May graduates are not permitted to live on-campus.  Exceptions are noted below:
  • Resident assistants and Fellows who are enrolled or employed in the following ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Summer Programs:
    • Writers Institute
    • Jazz Institute
    • PreCollege Program
    • StoryTellers
    • Opportunity Program Summer Academic Institute  
• On-Campus housing is not available to visiting students. 
• Students who do not meet the eligibility requirements listed above, but have a compelling reason to stay for any portion of the summer are invited to email Res Life.

Location

Summer Student Housing is assigned to 6, 8, and 11 Cane Crossing, Sussman Village H, J, K, and L as well as single and double rooms in Jonsson Tower.   Jonsson Tower Kitchenettes include a refrigerator, microwave and sink.  Students living in Jonsson Tower are required to purchase a meal plan, see additional details regarding Meal Plans below.

Important Dates for Summer 2025

• March 3: Summer Session course registration opens
• March 3: Summer Housing Application opens 
• April 18: Housing Application deadline for Summer 2025

• Summer housing is available for the following dates and will be billed weekly with no proration for arrivals for departures during the week: 

1. Session 1 - May 27th – June 27th 
2. Session 2 - July 1st – Aug 1st 
3. Session 1 + 2 - May 27th – Aug 1st 

• Students must depart housing at the end of their class, research, employment term, or internship.
• Summer housing outside of these dates are considered exceptions and must be pre-approved. 
• Students approved to stay in campus housing for less than 5 weeks will be housed in Jonsson Tower. 
• See below for early arrival or late departure exceptions. 

Early Arrival

• All students approved to stay on campus after May 10th must be sponsored by a department for Senior Week (May 12-16) and receive approval from Residential Life.  Contact reslife@skidmore.edu with questions about senior week sponsorship.
• Students approved to stay during the spring to summer transitions (May 18-24) must not leave campus until they are moved to their summer assignment. You will be billed for any room and board during this time period.

Late Departure

• Summer housing ends on August 2nd to allow time for the college to ready campus housing for the fall semester.
• Students that must stay in housing after August 2nd must be sponsored by a department and receive approval (for example international students and on-campus employees).  You will be billed for any room and board during this time period.
• After August 17th you must be sponsored for fall early arrival housing if you wish to transition to your fall housing. 
• Contact reslife@skidmore.edu for late departure or early fall arrival questions.

Summer Housing Rates

Billing

Summer room and board is billed by the week (Sunday - Saturday), regardless of your arrival or departure date.  There is no proration for arrivals or departures during the week. Summer room and board charges will be posted to your student account mid-summer.

Subsidized Summer Housing:

• Check with your hiring supervisor to see if a summer housing subsidy is included in your job.  You may be eligible for a 70% housing subsidy.  There is no meal subsidy.  
• Collaborative Research students, refer to your hire letter for subsidy information
• Opportunity students, contact Opportunity Programs to verify if subsidy is provided
• Internationals Students should contact Student Academic Services to verify if subsidy is provided

Summer Meal Plans

Students living in Jonsson Tower will be required to have a meal plan.  If you do not select one this will default to the Unlimited Meal Plan.  Students living in apartments may choose an optional meal plan.  Students may choose the best meal plan to fit their schedule.  All meal plans are served in Murray-Aikins Dining Hall.  

• Unlimited Meal Plan allows for access to the dining hall for breakfast, lunch and dinner as many times as they would like.
• 14 meals per week allows you to go in once per meal period daily up to the 14 meals per week limit.
• 7 meals per week allows you to go in once per meal period daily up to the 7 meals per week limit.

Summer Meal Plan Billing:

Summer Meal Plans are charged by the week (Sunday - Saturday), regardless of your arrival or departure date.  Summer room and board charges will be posted to your student account mid-summer.  Students may not change their meal plan option after summer charges have been posted to their student account.  Please contact the Bursar for meal plan information.

Meal Plan Rates:

• Unlimited Meal Plan (Murray-Aikins Dining Hall): $257.00 per person, per week
• 14 Meals per week (Murray-Aikins Dining Hall): $175.00 per person, per week
• 7 Meals per week (Murray-Aikins Dining Hall): $87.50 per person, per week

Murray-Aikins Dining Hall Summer Hours (subject to change):

• Breakfast:  7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
• Lunch:  11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
• Dinner:  5 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Housing Cancellation Deadlines and No Shows

• Summer Room Charges will be posted to your student account mid-summer.

• Students wishing to cancel their housing must request a cancellation by May 16 for Session 1 arrival, or by June 13 for Session 2 arrival.  Cancellations must be submitted to reslife@skidmore.edu.  Cancellations after those dates will incur a $250 cancellation fee.

• Students enrolled in Summer Session classes who cancel their housing during the add/drop period as a result of dropping a summer session class will be charged a cancellation fee of $250. Refer to Summer Session Calendar for add/drop dates.

Summer Storage Option:

• Storage Scholars is the preferred moving, storage and shipping partner of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.  Refer to Storage Scholars for details.
• Financial assistance is available for summer storage for those students with a demonstrated financial need.  Please contact reslife@skidmore.edu to inquire if you qualify for financial subsidies.
