Did You Know...

  • International Education Week (IEW) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education that provides an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.
  • IEW was first held in 2000 and today, is celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide.
  • According to Open Doors, 280,716 U.S. students studied abroad for academic credit in 2022/23.
  • ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is ranked 6th in the U.S. in the list of Top 40 Baccalaureate Institutions (Carnegie Type) by Total Number of Students Studying Abroad for a Semester.
  • International education isn't just U.S students studying abroad - it's also incoming international students. The U.S. hosted 1,126,690 international students in 2022/23.
  • In Fall 2024, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is home to 210 from 57 different countries. This is almost 8% of the student body.
    ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is ranked 38th in the U.S. in the list of Top 40 Baccalaureate Institutions (Carnegie Type) by Total Number of International Students.
  • International education prepares U.S. citizens to live, work, and compete in the global economy.

(IEW) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education that endeavors to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. It is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. 

Events during International Education Week

  • Monday, November 18th
    • SAS tabling and giveaway items, 10 am-12 pm, Dhall Atrium
    • Info Table, 11 am-2 pm, Case Center, 2nd floor
  • Tuesday, November 19th
    • Off-Campus Study Info Table, 11 am-2 pm, Case Center, 2nd floor
    • WLL's Italian section is hosting the Study in Italy Information Dinner for students who are studying in Italy next semester (by invitation only)
  • Wednesday, November 20th
    • SAS-CDC Senior International Mentors Event, 5:30 pm in SAS office, Starbuck Center 102
  • Thursday, November 21st
    • Caffè Italiano, 5-6 pm, in the WLL lounge in Palamountain 426 (chat, games, and culture exchange)
    • Prepare for Our 4 Seasons Event (Hosted by SAS w/OP and Health Services) at 6 pm in Wyckoff Center 
  • Friday, November 22nd
    • Global ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Day - Photo Shoot, 11 am-2 pm, Dhall Atrium

Global ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Day - Friday, November 22nd

Please join OCSE on Global ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Day for the "I Am Global ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø" Open Photo Shoot, 11:00 am-2:00 pm in Atrium of the Dining to share your Global ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø story. Tell us how you are a part of Global ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø: Are you or your parents from another country? Have you studied, lived, or worked abroad? Do you speak more than one language? Do you have international friends? At our Open Photo Shoot you can write your story on a white board and have your photo taken with it by our photographer to add to our online gallery (at the bottom of this page). Wear your international experience proud.
