Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies (LAS) Minor
The Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies minor offers students the opportunity to undertake the comparative study of the political, cultural, artistic, and economic traditions and contemporary realities of Latin American, Caribbean, and Latina/o/e/x communities. Students can take classes from various disciplines, including anthropology, archaeology, art history, dance, economics, history, language, literature, and political science. This flexibility allows students to create their own unique paths. Through the minor, students will gain an understanding of the diversity of the Americas from Tierra del Fuego to Montreal, from the Caribbean to the Andes, and from the ancient to the modern. In classes, by attending events, participating in travel seminars and study abroad opportunities, and in conversations across campus, faculty, students, and staff will challenge preconceptions and think critically about these dynamic communities.
