August DuClos is a young jazz bassist born and raised in New York City. Being exposed to music at a young age raised by two acclaimed and globally recognized musicians, Michael DuClos, bass, and Eszter Balint, Violinist and singer/songwriter, August has had music in his life since before he was born. Picking up the upright bass at the end of his sophomore year of college, he has quickly dedicated his life to this instrument. In the past two years, he has an already developed long list of venues and performances where he has both led groups and worked as a sideman, including playing at the Camden Opera House for the Jazz in June festival and the notorious club Hinterraum in Berlin. Looking to study jazz performance both professionally and academically post-grad, he is excited to showcase his final capstone recital at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø before going on a national tour this summer. August is honored to be performing his compositions, arrangements, and personal favorites on the stage where he has seen so many inspiring and influential performances.

His program will consist of a mix of American songbook, popular, and original music that serves as a culmination of his studies at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø under faculty members Rich Syracuse, Adam Hutcheson, George Muscatello, and Russell Haight. With influence from movements like post-bop, swing, and ECM, he and his band of (mostly) faculty members will both pay respects to the tradition of jazz and provide a contemporary take. This show will feature Russell Haight (Tenor sax), Adam Hutcheson (Alto sax), Wayne Hawkins (Piano and Rhodes), and Owen Markowitz (Drum kit).
