Health Professions Advising
& Student Health Professions Network

Signing up with the Student Health Professions Network

  • HPAC Interest Form- Please use Internet Explorer or Safari to access this form. If using Firefox, you will need to download the form before you can fill it out.

If you are a student interested in pursuing a career in a health profession (e.g., medical doctor, dentist, veterinarian, physician assistant, nurse, nurse practitioner, pharmacist, optometrist, physical therapist, genetic counselor, etc.), we strongly encourage you to sign up with Student Health Professions Network as soon as possible. The first step is to fill out an interest form (please use Internet Explorer or Safari to access this form. If using Firefox, you will need to download the form before you can fill it out) in order to be assigned a pre-health advisor and receive HPAC e-mails about pre-health information, events, and opportunities.

Note, if interested in clinical psychology, please contact the Psychology Department. However, psychiatry is a subspeciality of medicine so would require a medical doctor, MD or DO (i.e., pre-med).

Once you have completed the form and turned it in to the HPAC administrative assistant, you will be signed up with the network. You will be added to our email list so you will receive communications from the committee. These include information on upcoming events on and off campus, seminars, research and internship opportunities, and other information that may be of interest to health profession students.

You will also be assigned an HPAC secondary advisor. This is a member of the HPAC committee who will work with you and your primary advisor to assure your course schedule prepares you for your professional school and career goals. You are strongly encouraged to meet with your HPAC advisor upon signing up with HPAC and before registering for courses each semester.

All health profession students are also encouraged to familiarize themselves with the staff and resources in the Career Development Center. Rachel Chase is the assistant director of pre-professional and graduate studies in the CDC and is also a member of HPAC. She has a wealth of knowledge and resources to help students prepare for careers in the health professions, including information on internship opportunities, help with resumes and personal essays, interview preparedness, etc. Her office also hosts a number of on campus events throughout the year, including career panels, grad school expos, guest speakers, etc. Be sure to take advantage of these important opportunities. To schedule an appointment with Rachel, please call 518-580-5790 for assistance.
