Mila Malyshava holds her PhD from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. She received her undergraduate degree in economics from Bard College, NY. Prior to her academic experience in the United States, Mila pursued an IB diploma at the United World College (UWC) of the Adriatic in Italy. 

Her interdisciplinary teaching and research interests lie in the fields of financial macroeconomics, international economics, comparative systems, and history of economic thought. Her current research focuses on the incidents and effectiveness of economic and military coercion; the analysis of lagging transition economies of the former socialist states; equalizing effects of Social Security programs; and innovative pedagogy.

Mila is a research associate at the Levy Economics Institute and a board member of the Association for Institutional Thought.
