'Plastic Pollution and Our Health'

Kim Cameron, a former research scientist for Cornell University and SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry and an outspoken advocate and speaker for Beyond Plastics, will present the latest research and findings on how plastic waste is affecting human bodies and the environment and discuss sustainable solutions and how individuals can make a difference in combating this global issue. Associate Professor of Microbiology (SUNY Adirondack) Holly Ahern will look at the potential consequences of tick/human interactions, with a focus on Lyme disease — the most common tick-borne illness and one that is associated with long term chronic illness if not correctly diagnosed and treated. Since 2020, the has incubated collaborative projects that link regional community efforts with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø students, faculty, and staff.‌ On the occasion of the sunsetting of the Andrew W. Mellon foundation grant that launched the Initiative, all are in invited to dive into some of the projects brought to campus by MDOCS' inspiring community partners.
