Artist Statement
I am interested in this world that resists framing, where nothing is fixed. As artists
and humans, we are always framing, editing and narrating our versions of experience.
But there are so many versions, so many points of view. I make images of what I see
and how. The work always documents what I see, hear and touch. Sometimes there is
an illusion of seamlessness, but my drawings are always fractured and composed of
multiple, often fluid, points of view.
Working on paper is important to my process. If the limits of a rectangle cannot
contain an image I'm drawing, I make the drawing bigger by adding more paper. The
adding, the folding, the drawing: all are evidence of my physical process and my presence
in a larger world.
