A gallery talk with one of the exhibiting artists, Darrel Morris, will take place
on Tuesday, November 15th at 6pm in Davis Auditorium, Palamountain Hall.
Twenty-two works will be on display by six of the exhibiting artists. Another two series of ten drawings each by Simone Shubuck bring the total of pieces on display to forty-two. The works range in size from a four and a half inch square by Wes Mills to a thirty by one hundred and eighty inch long panoramic drawing by Dawn Clements. Works in varying mediums are included, from the traditional to the experimental: a stitching by Darrel Morris, burnt hole paper pieces by Jane Masters. The viewer will find direct observation, inventive abstraction and the imaginative minimal in evidence here. In a catalogue essay, Margo Mensing, Associate Professor of Art and chair of the exhibitions committee, remarks: "How differently these seven artists see the world and how familiar they make it while keeping their own strides."
