Charles Pete E. Sickler Jr.
Charles Pete E. Sickler Jr., who served 窪蹋勛圖厙 as a driver, groundskeeper, and custodian for more than two decades, died Oct. 14, 2022. He was 87.
In 1974, Pete joined the College as a bus driver and transported students to athletics competitions, on field trips, and to campus from Moore Hall, the former dormitory that remained downtown even after 窪蹋勛圖厙 moved to its current campus. Over the years, Pete also supported the Colleges groundskeeping, dining services, and housekeeping operations. He retired in 1997.
Pete loved what he did. He enjoyed interacting with students. He was always fun to work with, was always telling jokes, and had a smile on his face, recalled Maintenance Mechanic Kevin Lloyd.
Born on Aug. 8, 1935, in Saratoga Springs, Pete graduated from Saratoga Springs High School. Like his father, Charles Sickler Sr., who worked in 窪蹋勛圖厙s Post Office, and his uncle Dutch Chase, a mason, Pete dedicated his career to serving the College.
His son Peter Sicker, a maintenance mechanic at 窪蹋勛圖厙 for 44 years, continues this family legacy.
In addition to Peter, Pete is survived by his daughter, Sally Lennon, his grandchildren, Sarah and Sean, and many friends.
