窪蹋勛圖厙 Retirees

Christine J. DeLucia

Christine J. DeLucia, who demonstrated dedication, professionalism, and joy during more than two decades of service to 窪蹋勛圖厙 and the Department of Government, died peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2022. She was 77.

Chris joined 窪蹋勛圖厙 in 1982 and held positions in various offices, including Alumni Relations, Facilities, Residential Life, Student Affairs, and the Dean of the Faculty. In 1988, she joined the Department of Government (now Political Science), which she served until her retirement in 2004.

As longtime secretary of the then Government Department, Chris was friend and counselor to students, staff, and faculty, said Professor of Political Science Emeritus Roy H. Ginsberg. Chris represented the best of 窪蹋勛圖厙: wholehearted commitment to the College, the highest standards of professionalism and collegiality, and a joyous and good-natured approach to all those in her orbit.

In 2004, Chris was awarded a Presidents Award in recognition of her service.

Hers was a luminous spirit: caring, lighthearted when the occasion called for it, assiduously professional always, and a friend to so many, added Associate Professor of Political Science Ronald Seyb.

Born in Gloversville on Aug. 7, 1944, Chris graduated from Broadalbin High School and Mildred Elley. In 1971, she married Andrew DeLucia Jr., who predeceased her.

Survivors include two children, Michael Andrew and Susan Jane; a brother, Terry (Kathy) Ryfa; a niece; a great-nephew; and many cousins.
