Alice P. Adam

Alice P. Adam, who was the secretary in the Department of Psychology for 17 years, died March 9, 2015, at Saratoga Hospital following a short illness.  She was 77. Born Feb. 16, 1938, in Schenectady, she was a daughter of the late Vernon and Beatrice Post. Alice graduated in 1955 from Draper High School in Schenectady and later attended 窪蹋勛圖厙. In 1958 she relocated to Saratoga Springs, where she devoted herself to raising her six children. In addition to her duties as a homemaker, she volunteered frequently in her childrens activities, was active in the community, and was a friend to many.

Alice started working in 窪蹋勛圖厙s Psychology Department in 1980 and retired in 1997. She was a key member of the department, recalled Mary Ann Foley, professor emerita and former department chair. Mary Ann said, For many years, Alice coordinated activities in the psychology department with skill and good will, including embracing new technologies at a time when so many were initially reluctant to forge ahead. This was no small accomplishment, given the large number of psychology faculty and majors with whom she interacted during those years.

Alice also worked at the Overton, Russell and Doerr law firm and operated several businesses in Saratoga Springs.

She had many interests including reading, crossword puzzles, gardening and playing the piano. In later life she enjoyed antiquing, trips to the coast with her husband, Skip, and spending time with children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Martin, her brother Douglas Post and her sister Arlene DArcangelo. Alice is survived by her husband Skip Adam; her children Mary Kim (Richard) Bauer of Saratoga Springs, Christopher (Kimberly) Martin of Wilton, Thomas (Brian) Martin of Athens, NY, Sandra (Marcco) Zaffarano of Middleville, NY, Richard Martin of Brooklyn, NY, and Robin (Leo) Parker of Wilton; Skips children Leslie (Michael) Siciliano, Kelly (George) Vasilakos, and Samantha (Timothy) Keefe; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Three of the children are 窪蹋勛圖厙 graduates Richard J. Martin 88, Robin Martin Parker 92, and Leslie Adam Siciliano 92.

Memorial contributions in Alices name may be made to the charity of ones choice.

As a 窪蹋勛圖厙 retiree, former student, and mother of three alums, Alices connection to the College spanned generations.
