Clara M. Greenough

Clara M. Greenough, professor emeritus of health and physical education, died December 12, 1963. She was 91.

Clara was born in Deerfield, Mass., in 1872. She graduated from Deerfield Academy and was an 1894 alumna of Smith College. Obtaining an M.D. degree in 1899, she practiced medicine until the First World War, when she served in France with the Smith College Unit and was on the medical staff of a Red Cross in Liverpool, England.

She then turned to teaching, joining the faculty of Cheney Normal School, in Washington State, before beginning her 13-year association with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in 1921. Clara chaired The PE department from 1922 until 1928 and retired from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in 1934. She also served as the first chair of Mary McClelland Hospital in nearby Cambridge, N.Y.

In her retirement, she returned to Deerfield and then made her home in Winter Park, Fla.

Her survivors are unknown.
