2023-24 academic year
The Racial Justice Initiative, now in its fourth year, continues to be a major priority
for ϳԹ as the College focuses its commitments to racial justice, diversity,
and inclusivity throughout our community.
New for the 2023-24 academic year, ϳԹ:
- supported a month-long series of programming titled “Social (In)Justice at the U.S.-Mexico Border”;
- embarked on an American Association of College and Universities-sponsored initiative titled that promises to enhance our community’s resilience and skills in the complex areas of racial justice. A racial justice framework allows the College to reaffirm its commitment to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community as it navigates the complexity of the Supreme Court decision regarding race as an element in the admission process;
- has asked the College’s faculty to participate in the NACCC faculty survey to provide input on our campus DEI efforts;
- is working to create a web-based Diversity Dashboard by the end of the academic year that allows our compositional representation to be publicly understood;
- continues building support around mental health and our communities of color by joining initiative, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the mental health and emotional well-being of young people of color;

sponsored the webinar “Peacemakers at a Time of War,” presented by Roots/Judur/Sorsashim, a Palestinian-Israeli initiative for understanding, non-violence, and transformation. Belal Arar and Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger shared their personal stories and the challenging grassroots work of this unique collaboration of Palestinians and Israelis.
