Lori Acee, assistant to the director of Scribner Library, was recently appointed to serve on the Ballston Spa Public Library Board of Trustees.

 
Paul Arciero, professor of health and human physiological sciences, was featured in Women鈥檚 World magazine for his research and new book, 鈥淭he Protein Pacing Diet.鈥� The book is a No. 1 Amazon best-seller in three different categories and reached a high of No. 45 in Amazon鈥檚 largest book category of weight-loss/diet books. He was also invited to present the Spring Nutrition Symposium at the New York Chiropractic College in March.

Marta Brunner, College librarian, published a new article, "," in American Book Review.

 

Hope Casto, chair and associate professor of education studies, published the article 鈥溾�樷�� in the Journal of Rural Studies.

Jenny Day, associate professor of history, presented her research on the history of Hong Kong's extradition law at Harvard Law School. Her paper is titled, "The Enigma of a Taiping Fugitive: The Illusion of Justice and the 'Political Offence Exception' in Extradition from Hong Kong, 1865-1866."

Jordana Dym, professor of history and director of Latin American and Latinx studies, was elected chair of the trustees of the International Society of the History of the Map (ISHMap) in July. The society鈥檚 main project has been to organize and become , which launched in October as a discussion group for professionals interested in the history of maps and mapping.

Amy Frappier, chair and associate professor of geosciences, was quoted in the article 鈥溾�� in Earth & Space Science News about how sediments from sea caves help reconstruct past climate patterns, contributing to better storm predictions.

Katie Hauser, associate professor of art history, presented 鈥淛ust-in-Time Assessment: Designing a Design History Assessment鈥� at the 2019 Conference of the Universities Art Association of Canada, Quebec. The presentation addressed a new project involving purchasing, collecting and exhibiting eBay items in Hauser鈥檚 History of Modern Design course.

Marketa Wolfe, associate professor of economics, presented a paper she co-authored, 鈥淒rift Begone! Release Procedures and Preannouncement Price Drift,鈥� at the Southern Finance Association 2019 Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida.
