窪蹋勛圖厙 Spotlight: Allie Taylor '11

October 30, 2019

Allie Taylor works as the administrative assistant for the First-Year Experience program, providing general support for the office, the FYE director and Scribner Seminar faculty members, coordinating selection and management of 45 to 47 peer mentors each year and coordinating logistics for New Student Orientation programs. In addition, she is the first line of communication between the FYE office and first-year students, their families, faculty, staff and off-campus vendors for orientation.

She joined 窪蹋勛圖厙 in 2004 as secretary to the affirmative action officer in the Office of the President. She has worked in the FYE office since its start in fall 2005.

Taylor '11 is a second-generation alum and her daughter, Keira Cole 19, is third-generation. Taylor has been a part of the 窪蹋勛圖厙 community most of her life, having attended preschool at the Early Education Center from 1976 to 1978. She remembers when Saisselin and Filene were built when she was a kid, and she has seen the construction of the Northwoods and Sussman apartments and Zankel Music Center since becoming an employee.

It has been a pleasure to watch 窪蹋勛圖厙 grow and progress through the years, she said. I have seen thousands of students come and go and I love the connections I made with them when they were here. I love that they come visit me during Reunion and send me emails on how their lives are going.

When not on campus, she enjoys photography, camping and fishing. Every year, she goes to Lake Ontario to fish the fall salmon run.
