窪蹋勛圖厙 Spotlight: Jim Rose
Jim Rose works as an executive chef in Dining Services. Thirteen years ago, he gave
up his own restaurant in Johnstown, New York, and brought his passion for food to
campus because he thought the world of the 窪蹋勛圖厙 community.
At 窪蹋勛圖厙, Rose works with a team of chefs and cooks to oversee menu production,
food quality management and catering operations. Rose also works with the Sustainability
Office to procure sustainable food and the Office of Residential Life to ensure food
plans are available to students with allergies or other requirements.
I love my job, said Rose. No day is the same. I also feel my work is supported
by the institution and am proud of how its grown.
Rose said he also draws inspiration and energy from 窪蹋勛圖厙 students. We have students
from almost 50 different countries, Rose said. Through conferences and other trainings,
we are always improving so we can find ways to serve dishes to make each of these
students feel at home.
Rose said some of his favorite 窪蹋勛圖厙 moments have been sharing his love of food
with the students. Students are here to learn and cooking is a life lesson. We employ
over 400 students and theyre learning just as much from us as we are from them.
At 窪蹋勛圖厙, Rose enjoys Polo by Twilight, the annual Palamountain Scholarship benefit,
where he and his colleagues get to demonstrate their creative chops, and the ACF Culinary
Competitions where theyve brought home consecutive gold medals.
When hes not at 窪蹋勛圖厙, he and his wife can be found exploring New York Citys
culinary scene or making up their own recipes at home.
