Activities
Regina Janes, professor of English, delivered a paper titled "Lemuel Gulliver, Map-maker" at the at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, Ireland, on Nov. 26. The symposium was part of a citywide celebration of the Dean of St. Patrick's 350th birthday.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø's Dining Services team recently earned its fifth consecutive gold medal for culinary excellence in an American Culinary Federation competition on Jan. 12. The competition pitted ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø against 11 colleges and universities from throughout the northeast. Each team was challenged to create original meals from identical ingredients under strict time and style limitations.

Jason Breves, assistant professor of biology, co-authored an article in the Journal of Experimental Biology titled "." The article describes a collaborative study with researchers at St. Francis Xavier University, the University of Arkansas, York University, and the University of British Columbia regarding ionoregulation by marine fish.
Sue Van Hook, retired senior teaching associate in biology, has a story in a new anthology titled . Authors who contributed to the collection will give readings on Feb. 15 (Susan B. Anthony's birthday) at Battenkill Books in Cambridge, N.Y., and will be interviewed on WAMC's Roundtable program at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 13. Ian Berry, Dayton director of the Tang Museum, was quoted in a Jan. 2 NPR story titled "". The story was about artist Njideka Akunyili Crosby, whose work was on view at the Tang from Oct. 30 through Dec. 30, 2017.
Beau Breslin, dean of the faculty and vice president of academic affairs, was quoted in a Jan. 26 Inside Higher Ed story titled "." In the story, college and university administrators discussed how to thoughtfully reduce faculty duties to help them advance their best work.
Chris Mann,, assistant professor of political science, was quoted in a Jan. 26 Daily Gazette article titled "." The article discussed the Trump administration's criticism of the FBI and the press.
