MDOCS students continue to impress with their eye and ear for storytelling that has the power to surface untold stories, change minds, and shift opinions. With this in mind, we are proud to share two stories from students' work reaching past the campus and beyond!
Maddie King’s '18 documentary film Solnin (a senior film project advised by Ron Taylor, of MDOCS and Media Services) was selected for airing by WMHT on the July 30, 2018 episode of its indie film anthology TvFILM. Solnin is a hauntingly beautiful portrait of a place and the moments that happened within it - a visual and audio tour of her family's home in France where many memories were created throughout the years. Clara-Sophia Daly ‘20 spent this past June as a Student Fellow in the Storytellers' Institute working on an audio documentary about the cultural and economic shift weed farmers are facing in California due to changing policies and law. Many hours were spent sifting through audio interviews as she discovered the pathway of her story and making the tough yet inevitable call of leaving some stories out.
