Sports Analytics

The demand for the understanding and implementation of analytical thinking and tools in the world of sports has increased. This course will provide an overview of sports analytics, the application of quantitative approaches to provide a competitive advantage in the world of sports. Topics include the discovery and application of methods for novel player and team analysis, ways to improve in-game decision making, an overview of referee behavior, and how big data can transform the future world of sports. No prior statistics knowledge is required. This course will involve learning to code using the R/RStudio statistical software.
