Money Matters

What is money? Where does money come from? How is money related to moral values, happiness, and environment? How do we manage our money? This course provides students with an interdisciplinary overview of money and wealth from the perspectives of history, economics, business, politics, psychology, philosophy, and environmental studies. Through readings, interviews, discussions, writings, presentations, case studies, and film screenings, we will explore topics such as the origin and evolution of money, time value of money, monetary policies, financial scandals, and Corporate Social Responsibility practices toward the environment and labor market. In addition, students will also gain a basic understanding of wealth management and personal finance.
