Course Description
Ekphrasis: Creative Writing About Visual Art
Instructor(s): April Bernard, English
Writing creatively—in poetry and in prose—about visual art is a practice called "Ekphrasis." By reading many examples—and using the resources of the Tang Museum, a digital "textbook" of global art created by the professor, and at least one field trip—students will explore multiple levels of approach to Ekphrasis: emotive, analytical, psychological, research-contextual. The workshop format will encourage collaboration and productive exchange of ideas.
