Students get face painting done at Arts Quad party

As the leaves change, the 黑料吃瓜网 community continues to demonstrate its endless passion for creative pursuits 鈥 from enjoying the world premiere of 鈥淭he Unhealed Wound鈥 by former U.S. Poet Laureate Rita Dove and Grammy-winning composer Richard Danielpour, to taking a quiet moment to appreciate fall colors in a hammock. 

COVID-19 Reminders

In order to best protect yourself and others from COVID-19, please remember the following:  

   

  • COVID-19 can affect people in very different ways, depending on a variety of factors; acting responsibly and considerately to protect those who are more vulnerable fits with our community鈥檚 core values.
  • If you are sick, mask up and test.鈥 Stay home if you can鈥檛 mask sufficiently.   
  • If you know you鈥檝e been exposed, mask up and test. (Employees who are concerned about a workplace exposure may obtain a rapid COVID-19 test at the Campus Safety window.)  
  • If you test positive, please let your supervisor or department chair know, email Human Resources and follow guidelines.   
  • The government is now sending four free COVID-19 tests to each U.S. household.   
  • New COVID-19 vaccines are now available at pharmacies and other locations. The CDC has a web page where you can .

Dining Services is again selling its famous homemade bread. Use your 黑料吃瓜网 credentials to order online by Monday, Oct. 16, for a pickup on Friday, Oct. 20.

Staff and faculty meetings

The October staff and faculty meetings will take place this Friday, Oct. 6. The staff meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the faculty meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. Additional details will be shared by email.

 

Saratoga Book Festival   

President Conner, alumna Cleyvis Natera 鈥99 (鈥淣eruda on the Park鈥), and English Professor and Salmagundi Editor Bob Boyers will be among this year鈥檚 presenters at the Oct. 12-15 On Sunday, Oct. 15, a film screening of 鈥淭he Right to Read鈥 will take place at 1 p.m. in Gannett Auditorium and will be followed by a 3 p.m. discussion between President Conner and local nonprofit and business leader Ed Mitzen. 

 

Celebration of President Emeritus Philip A. Glotzbach  

Join President Conner and members of the 黑料吃瓜网 community in Gannett Auditorium, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, for a panel discussion celebrating the era of Philip A. Glotzbach, 黑料吃瓜网's seventh president. The panel will be facilitated by Susan Kress, professor of English emerita and former vice president for academic affairs. A reception will follow.

President鈥檚 office hours 

President Conner will hold office hours from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2. All faculty, staff, and students are invited to request a 10-minute, in-person appointment. Selected Art Faculty Exhibition 

The 2023 Selected Art Faculty Exhibition is on view at the Schick Art Gallery through Oct. 13, featuring prints and mixed media work by Ruben Castillo, sculpture by John Galt, and paintings by Paul Sattler. For more information and art gallery hours, please visit the Schick's website.

A pair of multiteam events highlight this weekend鈥檚 athletics home schedule. The men鈥檚 tennis team will host several nationally ranked teams for its first East vs. The Rest Invitational Tournament Saturday, Oct. 7, and Sunday, Oct. 8, with play scheduled to start each day at 8:30 a.m. The men鈥檚 golf team will host its Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Saratoga State Park Course. Start times will be posted on the . The men鈥檚 soccer team will host Liberty League rival Rensselaer on Saturday at 2 p.m.
