OU Content and Tools

The Pages list view provides a directory listing of files and subdirectories as well as access to the editing functionality, and other content management actions and file operations. The Pages list view also includes page status indicators that show if a page is checked out, or if other page actions have been scheduled.

The checked out/in icon, represented by a lightbulb, reflects the state of an OU Campus page or file. When a user edits a page by clicking on an editable region button, or clicks to a  from a list view, the page is automatically checked out to that user. Likewise, when the user publishes a page it is automatically checked back in. If the page is checked out to another user, a lock icon is shown. 

Edit

  • : Displays the page in edit mode, which includes editable regions. Checking out the page shows additional utilities.
  • : Properties provides access to editing various other page items. A page or file must be checked out to view or update parameters. 

Review 

  •  Displays the page in preview mode.
  •  Clicking the Page Check icon displays the Page Check modal with the ability to run any available page checks.
  •  Allows for the user to save a version of the current page.
  •  Used to view the committed versions of the page; available when the page is checked out to the current user.

Publish

  •  After choosing an editable region and editing the page, the Publish button is available once the page is saved. Clicking the button will bring up the Publish modal. The Publish button is split into a drop-down menu as well for additional publish options. The available actions in this drop-down menu include Schedule, Submit for Approval, and Expire. 
  •  Publish content at a later date using the Scheduled Publish tool. A scheduled publish can only be canceled or modified by the user who set the schedule, or an administrator.

File

  •  The Rename features allows users to rename files. 
  •  The Move function allows users to move one or more files at a time.
  •  The Copy function can be used to copy one or more pages or files. Copying a file automatically renames the copy by appending a number.
  •  The Move to Recycle Bin function allows a user to remove a file from the staging and production servers and place it into the Recycle Bin, where from which it can be either restored or permanently deleted at a later time.
