Bauhaus!

Student works on the shared Fall 19 Art Department theme of the Bauhaus on its 100th anniversary

Bauhausliterally translated to construction house was a German art school operational from 1919 - 1933 that combined crafts and the fine arts. Founded by Walter Gropius, the school eventually morphed into its own modern art movement characterized by its unique approach to architecture and design. Today, Bauhaus is renowned for both its unique aesthetic that inventively combines the fine arts with arts and crafts as well as its enduring influence on modern and contemporary art. This exhibition presents student work in a wide range of materials, from painting and drawing to metals, fibers, and ceramics, all in response the history, impact, and aesthetic of the Bauhaus.
