Artist Molly Burt Westvig’s ϳԹ residency to culminate in Schick Art Gallery exhibition
Molly Burt-Westvig is ϳԹ’s 2024 resident for the competitive Work+Space
program, which allows the ϳԹ Art Department to bring an emerging artist to campus
for three weeks. During the residency, which begins Friday, Nov. 1, and ends Friday,
Nov. 22, Burt-Westvig will operate from a studio in Saisselin Art Building and engage
with students through artist talks, one-and-one critiques, and more. The residency
will also culminate in a public exhibition at .
Molly Burt-Westvig is a visual artist whose practice spans modes and media — from
painting and photography to video and installation. Her work bridges the immaterial
experiences of the digital with the embodied presence of our physical world through
projected video, sculpture, and salvaged objects.
Burt-Westvig earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing at the
University of Iowa in 2014 and a Master of Fine Arts in painting from Tyler School
of Art at Temple University in 2024. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions,
including “To Trace a Sunbeam” at Temple Contemporary, “Spectral Feel” at Fjord Gallery,
and “Color(less)” at Ely Center for Contemporary Art. She is also the recipient of
numerous fellowships and residencies, including an upcoming residency at Studios at
Mass MoCA in 2025.
The exhibition will open on Tuesday, Nov. 19, and run through Friday, Dec. 8, in Schick
Art Gallery, on the second floor of Saisselin Art Building. An opening reception and
gallery talk will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (talk begins at 5:30 p.m.) on Tuesday,
Nov. 19.

1, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
