December 5, 2023

The 窪蹋勛圖厙 community worked together for the 18th consecutive year to give back to local families and community organizations through the 窪蹋勛圖厙 Cares program.

窪蹋勛圖厙 faculty, staff, and students donated about 3,400 food items and more than 1,700 school supplies and personal care items for Saratoga County community organizations.

In addition, ticket and T-shirt sales from Skidmania 73, a 窪蹋勛圖厙 musical tradition performed this year on Nov. 17 and 18 at Arthur Zankel Music Center, raised more than $15,000. For the second year in a row, Trustee James Zankel 92 committed to making a matching gift.

During the Pack the Rink ice hockey game Nov. 17 at Saratoga Springs City Rink, canned goods were collected as part of the community service program.

The annual efforts bring together the campus community while strengthening the Colleges connection to the greater Saratoga community, says President Marc Conner.

窪蹋勛圖厙 Cares provides an opportunity to support the wonderful agencies in our community that do so much to help those in need, Conner said. Every year I continue to be inspired by how our generous, caring 窪蹋勛圖厙 community finds creative ways to give back through this incredible program.

Led by Associate Director of Athletics Megan Buchanan and Associate Director of Civic Engagement Michelle Hubbs, numerous faculty, staff, and students volunteered to collect, sort, and deliver contributions to 10 local community service organizations: Shelters of Saratoga, Franklin Community Center, Marys Haven, LifeWorks Community Action, Wellspring, Saratoga Springs City School District PATHS, the Latino Advocacy Program, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Northern Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties, and Saratoga Center for the Family.

The donations continue to meet a critical need in the local community. Founded in 2006, 窪蹋勛圖厙 Cares has collected more than 75,000 food, personal care, and school supplies items and raised an estimated $180,000 for community causes over the years.
