Minutes of February 14 were approved. Updates: DOS Restructuring Kyle reported that the subcommittee has met with 8 people from Student Affairs and 7 from Academic Affairs. The subcommittee is in the process of starting to write the report and it should be delivered to CEPP by the end of March. IPPC subcommittee on Admissions and Financial Aid Deb reported that the subcommittee discussed: 2007 94 % retention for first year students Optimization - the subcommittee wants to open the third-leg of the discussion to increasing enrollment by 100 more students The target for Spring (after early decision) is 605-610 students CEPP discussed whether the Admissions Materials should be on the IPPC subcommittees agenda. CEPP archives - CEPP is required to archive minutes and important documents. In the past the archive has been a box that was passed down to each new chair. However, the archive effectively ends in 2005 at a time when minutes and important documents were posted on the website. CEPP decided to continue the web archive and look into archiving hard copy documents in the library. CEPP will make the appropriate changes in the CEPP operating code. CAS and FYE: Transfers, Failures, and Withdrawals Policy CEPP suggested that the language for the Failures parallel the language for Withdrawals to have the CAS make the final decision after a recommendation from the DFYE. CEPP will report the policy change at the February 29, 2008, faculty meeting. The CAS will make the policy available for the faculty at the meeting and will include the policy in their operating guidelines. Academic Grievance Deb has been in contact with the Dean of Studies about the academic grievance brought forth by Nathaniel Douglas. The DOS will have new catalog language for such matters soon. Among the questions that the committee discussed were: Do faculty have a duty to explain a grade? Do faculty have an obligation to determine if there is a clerical error? Meeting adjourned at 7:30.
